At Von Dueber Electric, we believe the future of San Diego homes is smarter, safer, and more energy-efficient. Earlier this month, we had the chance to see that future up close at Leviton’s Next Gen Contractor Training in Nashville. We couldn’t be more excited about what’s coming for homeowners right here in Southern California.
A Hands-On Look at the Future of Smart Power
The event brought together contractors from across the country to explore Leviton’s next-generation Smart Load Centers and residential products. It wasn’t just another training. It was a chance to get hands-on with technology that is reshaping how we power and protect our homes.
From energy monitoring to app-based controls, Leviton showed us how the electrical panel, something most homeowners rarely think about, is becoming the brain of the modern smart home.
Leviton created an immersive experience designed to educate, connect, and inspire. It was clear Leviton isn’t just developing new products—they’re investing in the professionals who install them, making sure we’re equipped with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to deliver smarter solutions for our clients.
The Star of the Show: Leviton’s Smart Load Center
The centerpiece of the event was Leviton’s Smart Load Center, a modern reimagining of the traditional electrical panel. This upgrade is a game-changer for homeowners who want visibility, control, and peace of mind built right into the core of their home’s electrical system.
Here’s what makes it smart:
Real-Time Energy Monitoring:
Track your home’s energy use down to the individual circuit from your phone.
Remote Control:
Turn breakers on or off with a tap in the app, whether you’re home or away.
Alerts & Notifications:
Get notified instantly if there’s a tripped breaker, surge, or unusual electrical event.
Future-Ready for EVs & Solar:
Perfect for San Diego families adding EV chargers, solar panels, or battery backups.
Beyond the Panel: Smart Products for the Whole Home
Leviton also introduced us to their complete smart residential product line—built to bring intelligence and control to every room in the house.
From Wi‑Fi-enabled dimmers and motion-sensing switches to tamper-resistant smart outlets and whole-home surge protection and automation, each piece is designed to work seamlessly with the My Leviton app. It’s not just about convenience—it’s about creating a connected ecosystem that gives homeowners more control over their space, energy usage, and safety.
Why This Matters for San Diego Homeowners
Here in Southern California, energy efficiency and safety aren’t optional. They’re essential. As more families adopt EVs, invest in solar, and fill their homes with smart devices, older electrical systems are struggling to keep up. Many homes still run on outdated 100-amp panels that weren’t built for today’s load.
Upgrading to a 200-amp Smart Load Center is one of the smartest moves a homeowner can make. Here’s why:
- Safety: Instant alerts if something goes wrong give you peace of mind.
- Savings: Energy monitoring helps you identify waste and lower bills.
- Convenience: Control your panel and monitor usage from anywhere.
- Future-Proofing: As homes add more load (EV chargers, AC units, smart devices), older 100-amp panels can’t keep up. Upgrading to a 200-amp smart panel keeps your home ready for the future.
Bringing Leviton’s Innovation to San Diego
After Nashville, I came back inspired to share these solutions with our community. At Von Dueber Electric, we’re committed to bringing the best technology to our customers, whether it’s installing an EV charger, upgrading your breaker panel, or integrating smart home electrical devices throughout your space.
What impressed me most about Leviton’s approach is how they’re thinking about the home as a connected system, not just a collection of wires and outlets. And that’s exactly how we like to work with our clients: connecting safety, convenience, and technology into one seamless electrical solution.
